NASA’s Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students (SUITS) challenge is an innovative design competition aimed at college students. This competition provides an opportunity for students to develop augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) interfaces to support astronauts in their space missions, particularly those involved in NASA’s Artemis missions, which seek to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon and eventually Mars. The interfaces are designed to improve astronauts' interaction with their spacesuits and the environment during extravehicular activities (EVAs).
Our team is excited to participate in the NASA SUITS 2024 challenge, bringing together interdisciplinary expertise from computer science, engineering, and design to develop a cutting-edge AR interface. This project will not only enhance our technical skills but also contribute to the future of space exploration by improving astronaut efficiency and safety during missions.
Team Goals and Approach
Participating in NASA SUITS allows our team to gain invaluable experience in AR/VR development and human-computer interaction. We also plan to share our journey and knowledge with the broader community through workshops and presentations, inspiring the next generation of STEM enthusiasts.
